Have you ever thought of how our lives will be like when we do things analogically? Instead of using technologies, we continue using traditional ways to do our work, communicate, and go about our daily lives. Things are made simpler nowadays, and they assist us to get a job done faster and for us to be more effective and productive. Hence, when I heard the title of the movie "Analog" - I wondered what it's about. I have to be honest, I started to become interested because of the line of actors playing in the movie... but the movie blew my mind that I decided to write my thoughts on it 😉

To start off, this movie has great cinematography (as many other Japanese productions) and storyplot. It can be quite slow-paced, but it is very calming and meaningful.

The story depicts the life of a salaryman, an architect who works at an architectural firm who is very good at his job. He has an interesting work habit - instead of integrating his work with using 3 dimensional sketching and computers, he prefers to build scaled models, which give him a lot of satisfaction. It seems like nothing much is happening is his life. He is single, visits his sickly mother daily, and has 2 good friends with him that he's known from his childhood.

After work, there is a cafe that he frequently visits. There, he met a girl, and from their short encounter, he became interested in her. When they met again, they had a good chat and seemed to click really well. Interestingly, she doesn't own a mobile phone, so they sort of agreed to meet at the cafe every Thursday evening. They went to eat dinner, tried new activities and went to visit places together. A lot happened in his life, but he has his friends and this girl to rely on. As they became more familiar, he decided that he wanted to propose to her - only to have her not come to the cafe on the usual day and time. He waited for her every week hoping to meet her again but she is nowhere to be seen.

The movie went on with many unexpected turns and surprises. I won't say more as to not spoil your viewing experience, but I have to say - it's been a while since I get to feel the emotions potrayed in a movie and I am indeed awed by how the story unfolded.

We build emotional bonds and relationships by communicating with others. No matter the methodology, when we want to convey a message , the effort to get it across will bring meaning and give hope and purpose to us and the people around us. We may sometime resort to running away or distracting ourselves when faced with something so overwhelming. But this movie shows when you face your pain and sorrow head on, you will be able to deal with things more objectively without having regret or the 'what if..". Having emotional support and not pushing those support away do help a lot too.

This is quite a long movie, but I can assure you it is very heartwarming and positive. When you are thinking of which movie to watch next, why not give Analog a view. It will be worthwhile 😊
