Our life has many obstacles - from birth till death. Does it mean we should be tired and stop living? Good question, not everyone is blessed with good family, socioeconomic status or education resources. Still, the similarity here is, we all are human – born with humane nature. What does that mean? When you notice what seemingly bad conditions you are in, you would be inclined to reach out for help. So, somehow we find it easier to be kinder to others compared to ourselves. It’s common to “want” to improve ourselves and that doesn’t mean we should use criticism, force or humiliation to move forward.
This is a question I’ve always asked in the room: “would you prefer one to push you relentlessly like a machine or one that gives you kind encouragement and still makes you feel motivated?” There you go, the answer is clear.
From today onwards, tell yourself that there is another way of encouragement and it doesn’t need to be harsh, ruthless and never-ending pain. It can be kind, soothing and relaxing. It can be as short as 5 minutes in daily affirmations such as, “I am enough”. It can be something kind to yourself - going to a cafe, chatting with friends or a mental health professional. Yes, life may bring countless challenges, and all of those experiences are only bringing us closer to who we really are. Live it - with compassion.
