"I like this.... I want to buy it." - I went through this phase in my life where I purchased Many, MANY things that I liked. Whenever I came across something nice or something that I thought I would use, I would keep in view of buying it. However, as I grew older, the feeling of buying new things reduced a lot. Is it because I have less purchasing power compared to when I was younger? 🫣🤔 Perhaps, but I realised that these things that I owned were starting to pile up, and some may even get forgotten, that I may only realise their existence once in a blue moon.... or when I stumble accross them during spring cleaning or when I was looking for something else.

I recently watched a TV show, where a guest asked someone: " Is this thing essential in your life? Does it make a difference in your life?". Those sentences hit me - that is so true. Many times, we take on and hoard soooooo many things that one day they become so overwhelming. It is actually easier to keep than to let go or even throw away things, be it physical or emotional. The strong attachment we have and create with things can be a good thing, but sometimes, it can also be detrimental to us. It is important for us to know how to prioritize and choose what are the things we want to keep and what to discard.

I am now proud to say that I am a very responsible consumer. I make use of the things I have and make sure to rotate them so that I will not leave them to collect dust on the shelves. I do not take on things or buy things just for the sake of it. I will give it a think and then decide. Is this essential in my life? Do I need it?

Everyone will have their own strategies to understand and know what their priorities are. How did you manage yours?
