Being an only child, I am always finding ways to keep myself entertained, and I am very imaginative. I sometimes imagine visiting nice places or seeing things that are pleasant to me. When I was studying, I realised this is a relaxation technique known as pleasant imagery.
I would like to share with you how you can do this by yourselves. It may take around 2 to 3 minutes of your time, and you can practice this anywhere and everywhere! Let's try to do this together, ok?
Hmm... firstly, you need to read this and then practice on your own π
Let's sit comfortably, then close our eyes. Imagine a nice place that you may want to visit. After that, imagine the location where you are at, look around you - list out 5 things you see. Then, imagine you are walking and list out 4 things you hear around you. Imagine you are taking a short break, you may sit down, and then list out 3 things you feel and then 2 things you smell.
Finally...... think of what you feel at that moment...... when you are ready, open your eyes again and come back to your present moment.
It may not sound like much now, but read the instructions again and practice it. Remember, this activity doesn't solve your problems for you. Rather, it helps relax you so that you will be able to find ways to manage your current struggles.
It's world mental health day today, so let's take some time together to pay attention to our own mental health well-being.
Have a great day! Till the next thoughtnote βΊοΈ
